Android Developer Challenge I comes to an end

The Google Android Developer Challenge is finally complete and the winners have been announced today.

If you are not familiar with the Challenge, the purpose was to build applications by using Google’s Android mobile platform and making use of its capabilities to deliver a better mobile experience.

Phase I of the contest took place in 2 rounds. After Round 1, 50 teams of developers were selected and awarded each US$ 25,000 and the possibility to go to Round 2, for ten US$ 275,000 and ten US$ 100,000 prizes.

The first devices running on Android are expected in the following months, with T-Mobile said to be the first operator to release a HTC phone running on the platform. More info on this particular phone here.
